21st May 2011 23.40 hrs @ Mumbai International Airport Shehazad met the woman of his dreams at 36,000 feet in a flight from Mumbai to Kuala Lumpur from there Shehneela was to go to Sydney & Shehazad was to head to Melbourne via connecting flight. Shehneela stole Shehazad & heart in those 5.5 hrs on a plane till Kuala Lumpur where a normal Hi-Hello turned out to be a non-stop conversation till they landed in Kuala Lumpur. They were assigned seats next to one another, and by the end of the flight they had already exchanged their names. A week later, Shehazad tried searching for Shehneela on Facebook but to his surprise there were absolutely no records on internet & he thought a girl with whom he had spoken endlessly for 5.5 hrs made a big fool out of him by sharing wrong name. This is where he was completely driven by curiosity (To be true – His self-respect took a beating) & he promised himself that he will find her whatever it takes. Few days later an idea cropped up to him & he decided to look her up on Orkut (Once upon a time every one of us has been a part of Orkut). Orkut was on the verge of closing down in few months & time but it came to his rescue & thats how he found her. He left her a scrap of how he loved her company during their flight & he was to visit Sydney & wanted her to Join him for dinner with his Sister & Brother-in- law but then she took it offensively thinking he was trying to flirt that & where the whole thing got derailed. Somehow they had exchanged their gmail email ids as both of them thought Orkut was passé. Shehneela was to stay in Sydney for a long term as she was on a project but Shehazad had to go back within couple of weeks as his meetings came to an end. Few months later she dropped him an email & thats how both of them started chatting & January next year she came to India. Shehazad decided to receive her at Mumbai Airport. It was in Pune where love blossomed over multiple dates, movies & spending time together with common friends to be able to know each other in a better way thereby gauging compatibility but alas Shehneela had to go back to Sydney within 3-4 months again. Distance made them realised that there is something between them & thats when they decided to commit to each other. How they wished things could have been Alice in Wonderland but they were not! Same religion but different caste. It took 4 yrs for their families to accept each other after going back & forth on so many multiple issues. Ultimately all things fell in place & they are scheduled to get married this December in Indore. Nikah rituals will be as per Shehneela & family wishes as every father has a dream of getting her daughter married from a place where she has grown up along with memories attached to it.
